IgnitED Medicine

It’s active from the start — young professionals take vital signs, practise suturing, scrub and gown up for clinical sessions, and simulate real emergency response scenarios.

They visit a working medical setting, spending a day with the Integrated Simulation & Clinical Skills team based at St Richard’s Hospital. Participants will work together in the local environment collecting samples for a live bacteriophage research project, and explore how the layout of cities affects public health.

Alongside core clinical experience, young professionals take on two healthcare related challenges: designing sustainable healthcare solutions and developing AI powered tools for patient care. These challenges build toward a final Friday innovation lab, where attendees team up across disciplines to fuse their ideas into new ambitious healthcare products.

Across five days, we engage with medicine not only as a career path, but as a complex, evolving system — practical, ethical, environmental, and deeply human.

Programme Headlines

  • A full day in a working hospital, engaging in practical simulations with teams from different departments

  • Step into the world of surgery in a hands-on workshop led by a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, you will take part in the art of gowning and gloving and learn two fundamental suturing techniques - Simple Interrupted and Continuous suture.

  • Experience life as an undergraduate in a higher education venue

  • Engage in practical & interactive workshops, using industry standard equipment

  • Explore industry venues, experiencing sessions in real world professional settings

  • Understand pathways from early-career roles into progression routes

  • Learn about the range of professions within an industry

  • Meet and make new friends with others who share your aspirations

IgnitED Dates & Prices

18-22nd August 2025 - University of Chichester

The IgnitED programme offers an immersive and engaging career experience for young people aged 14-17, designed to provide invaluable insights and practical understanding for their future profession.

A portion of each paid registration helps fund a place for a young person who might otherwise be unable to attend, directly supporting social mobility and our mission to widen equitable access.

Registrations close 1st August 2025.

Single Registration

£499 per participant, less than £100 per day for hands-on interactive careers experiences, peer networking, and industry coaching. Before the 21st of July, places can be secured with a non-refundable £100 deposit, invoiced on receipt of a booking.

Group Discount

After 26th May 2025, the standard price of £499 per participant applies. However, if two or more bookings are made together, the discounted rate of £474 per person will be applied. Places can be secured before 21st July with a non-refundable £100 deposit, which will be invoiced upon receipt of a booking.
